Couch Covers – Makeover Your Old Couch Into a New Couch
There are many ways you can save money when redecorating your home. Who wants to spend a ton of cash to simply update the look of their rooms? By using readily available (and extremely affordable) items such as paints, stains, free finds, couch covers, and other little extras, you can make a room look new again or give it a complete change all together.
Choose your colors wisely! When purchasing paint, think about the final picture. In fact, you may want to pick out a few other items, such as couch covers or throw pillows, prior to purchasing paint. This way, you can choose a color that coordinates with these pieces as doing this will help pull the room together. The same goes for any stains that you may be thinking about using. Light stains may look great with your current room, but choosing a dark stain may be the piece that completes the puzzle with the look of your (soon to be) new room! Once you have chosen your colors, it is time to get to work. The easiest way to start is to pull everything out of the room if possible. From this point, you will want to cover your floors with a drop cloth and tape off any areas that you do not want to change the color of. After set up is complete, you can proceed with painting and staining using the manufacturer’s directions.
Now that your room is freshly painted, it is time to add furniture, paintings and décor to furnish it with. If you are trying to save money, you will want to use your current furniture. Couch covers are readily available for nearly all standard sofa sizes. These come in many styles and colors, so you will not be limited in your choices. Furniture that is not covered by any material, such as a table or TV stand, can be refinished to go with the new look of your room. Little touches such as throw pillows, special photos, and prized artwork can help complete the look.
If you are unhappy with your current furnishings, or if couch covers will not be enough to save your sofas, you can try to find some free or low priced items to use instead. There are many resources online that can point you in the right direction. Some websites even offer a community forum with a place that people can list items to give away or sell inexpensively. You can also check the classified ads in your local paper. If your income is limited, try calling some of your local community programs. They often have exchange drives in place so that people with limited incomes can shop for household items in exchange for a few hours of your volunteered time.
As you can see, there are ways to improve the look of your home, even on a tight budget. It may take a little bit of work and a small amount of money, but sometimes you simply need a change in life, even if it is just your couch covers and a coat of paint!
