Choosing the Right Curtain Rod
When window treatments are brought to mind most only think about the soft portions of the covering. Little thought is given at first to the hardware used in creating a look, such as the curtain rods. This small detail can make your windows look polished or make a desired look or style fall short, if the wrong equipment is chosen. When choosing which type of rods there are a couple things that one needs to consider.
First thing to consider is the weight of the fabric and the distance the rod will span. This can be very important when it comes to function. If you choose to flimsy a rod your creation may not last or may even be impossible to create.
The second thing you need to consider is the style or look that you are trying to achieve. If your curtain has a pocket and you are only wanting the curtain to show and no hardware it is possible to get away with using the standard basic curtain rods available at any store, so long as the span is not too great and the fabric not too heavy. If you want to add a little more detail with a finial or the rod will be showing as with tab top curtains, then you will want to be a bit more selective in your choice.
Today you have a lot of options on the market to fit just about any style or budget. Rods come in a variety of materials and colors and are generally adjustable to fit almost any window. As for the choice of a finial only your imagination will restrict you.
